The city's corner rendezvous in Copenhagen.

French bistro atmosphere on the corner of Ny Østergade.

Striped awnings, small tables on the pavement, and a menu that runs from croque monsieur and moules frites to a steak tartare you’ll remember.

We’re a bistro in Copenhagen where people drop by for a morning coffee, a long lunch, a cold cocktail after work, or an evening that runs late.

Everyone’s welcome. See you soon.

Food that holds its own

The food comes first. A bistro should know its basics, and ours does: a proper burger with cheddar and secret sauce, classic steak frites with béarnaise, steamed mussels with aioli and pommes frites, fried cod with beurre blanc. We keep it simple, we get it right, and we don’t pad the menu with clichés about seasons and journeys. Taste it. That’s the proof.

For lunch you’ll find comfort classics like Croque Monsieur, Skagen toast and Chèvre Chaud alongside lighter things like burrata with basil pesto or stracciatella with lemon. In the evening the tempo lifts a gear, the lights drop, and the menu opens up to steak au poivre, spaghetti piccante, and an honest steak tartare with piment d’Espelette.

Bar, restaurant and corner café in one

Bistro Central is a bar and a restaurant at the same time, and it works the way the best bistros work: the borders blur, and a late glass of wine slides into a shared dessert slides into another cocktail. The bar holds its own, from a Bistro Spritz and a Basil Smash to a quiet glass of Bourgogne from a wine list that leans heavily on France and Italy.

By day we’re the classic corner café. People meet for coffee, for working lunches, for a quick one on the pavement. Later in the week, particularly Friday and Saturday, the evening runs past midnight with music, another glass, and the kind of energy that makes a corner in central Copenhagen a meeting point.
